C3i Presented Key Survey Findings on the Experiences of Software as a Service Technology in the Life Sciences Industry

Reading, United Kingdom – February 23, 2010

Reading, United Kingdom <February 23, 2010> – C3i Inc, the leader in technology services for life sciences companies, presented key findings from a survey on the adoption of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) technology model in clinical trials during the Oracle UK Pharma Day in Reading, UK.

In the dynamic landscape of clinical trials, important changes in technology deployments are underway. In order to gain understanding of the current implementations, benefits and concerns with the clinical technologies, C3i conducted a survey among users of electronic data capture and other clinical applications worldwide. The survey called “Experiences with Software as a Service (SaaS) Technology in the Life Sciences Industry’ was intended to find out more about the usage, satisfaction, and concerns on the SaaS model in the life sciences industry and discover needs for the near future.

The survey revealed that customers differ in their experience with various kinds of clinical software. While almost 80% of respondents have experience with EDC, only 40% have experience with SaaS software. More findings indicated that the largest group (48%) of respondents to the question regarding satisfaction with SaaS replied it was good or outstanding. The survey also investigated the types of services that will be considered important when choosing EDC application.

Carl Vanhaesendonck, Sales Director for EMEA, who presented the survey findings at the Oracle UK Pharma Day, shared his observations after the seminar – “Discussing with several participants of this event added to our conviction that CROs or sponsors might welcome a solution not only "delivered as a service" but that would also include support and training, making it a totally integrated solution."

To seize this opportunity, C3i recently introduced to the market its TechCRO offering – a subscription-based application licensing of Oracle Clinical, Oracle Remote Data Capture and Oracle Thesaurus Management (TMS) software, which eliminates IT infrastructure for clients and reduces resource expenditures. This offering is designed specifically for small-to-mid-sized organizations and enables them to focus on their core business, leaving the implementation, maintenance, business process execution and validation of the technology to C3i.

C3i developed a detailed white paper evaluating the results of the survey. In addition to that, C3i will deliver presentations based on the survey findings during the DIA Clinical Forum in Portugal /10 – 13 October,2010/ and at the Oracle Health Sciences User Group Conference in San Antonio, TX /10 – 13 October, 2010/.
